Have you already had your breakfast yet?

People in Myanmar usually ask the other person  “have you already had your breakfast/lunch yet?” to show that they care about that person. It’s a greeting word  like saying “Hi, how are you?”

Sometimes, it’s not only just saying “hi” but also because they want to invite you to go out together for lunch or dinner.

In Burmese language, it’s also fine to say “have you already eaten?” without mentioning whether it’s breakfast/lunch or dinner.

Let’s see.

Sarr Pee Pi lar?

Have you already eaten? (direct translation)

Htamin Sar Pee Pi lar?

Ma Nat Sar Sarr Pee Pi Lar?

Have you already had your breakfast?

Nay. Lal Sar Sarr Pee Pi lar?

Have you already had your breakfast?

Nya Sar Sarr Pee Pi lar?

Thanks for reading and I hope you now have some ideas how to apply this in your Burmese language learning journey!
